Mosquito & Tick Program

Standard service covers up to 1 acre. Larger properties and 1x special event treatments will require an estimate. Per NYS Law, Critter Ridders needs to receive a signed contract from the property owner before any lawn treatments can be scheduled. Bushes & trees can be retreated after 7 days, if necessary. Lawns can be retreated after 14 days.

Details about our Mosquito & Tick Program:

  • Everyone, including pets, should stay off the treated areas for 1-2 hours or until dry. If it’s a hot, sunny day the material will dry faster than if it is a cloudy, overcast day.

  • Yellow Caution Flags are required at points of entry to the treated area. Flags may be removed after 24 hours.

  • On some properties our Technicians will use a ride on sprayer. On others we will manually treat with our high-pressure sprayers. Both treatments are effective in freeing your lawn from these blood sucking pests.

Mosquito & Tick Rain Policy
Treatments for Mosquito & Ticks can be done before it rains or after it rains. If the pesticide has 1-2 hours to dry after the application, it will be effective. Additionally, we add an adhesive (Surf AC ) to increase pesticide resiliency.

  • Where do you spray?

    Initial Service: Mowed areas, landscaping, bushes, tall grass, trees, under decks, and around the foundation of your home.

    Throughout Summer: Landscaping, bushes, tall grass, trees, under decks, and around the foundation of your home. Mowed areas are NOT sprayed on every visit.
    * Generally, ticks do not live in mowed areas. If you find them, we will re-treat at NO additional charge.

    After September 15: Leaf piles, mowed areas, landscaping, bushes, tall grass, trees, under decks, and around the foundation of your home.
    * Falling/accumulating leaves create potential tick hot spots.

  • Why do I have to sign a contract?

    For applications to lawns, trees, and bushes NYS Law requires a contract. You may cancel at any time (at least 48 hours prior to your next scheduled service).

  • Why do you need to treat every 18-24 days?

    Pesticides break down quickly when applied to trees, plants, and lawns. Generally, mosquitoes live 2-3 weeks.
